Ziwei Compatibility Method: What Is Calculated and Checked
How OpenFate compares two Zi Wei Dou Shu charts: Life and Spouse palace relations, key palace overlaps, cross-chart Four Transformations, relationship stars and decade timing, with no invented score.
Overview
Both Zi Wei charts are built first. The engine then records how the two charts meet: which palaces and branches relate, where one person’s transformations land in the other’s chart, and when their decades line up. There is no compatibility score.
What is calculated
- Branch relations between the two Life palaces and the two Spouse palaces, using the same branch relation table as Bazi.
- Key palace overlaps: which palace of one chart sits on each important palace of the other.
- Cross-chart Four Transformations: where one person’s transformation stars land in the other person’s palaces, in both directions.
- The stars in each Spouse palace and the relationship (peach-blossom) stars that appear in either chart.
- Timing triggers and windows where both people’s decades or years activate the same palaces.
Fixed conventions and inputs
- The day boundary and true solar time are applied per person and change the charts used.
- Chart construction follows the same Zhongzhou conventions as OpenFate’s single Zi Wei reading.
- The comparison adapts its focus to the chosen relationship scenario (for example, partners or parent and child).
How the report is written and checked
- The model receives the calculated cross-chart facts and writes the explanation; no score is produced or allowed.
- Before a report is saved, every check runs: numbers presented as scores, missing timing evidence, and thin or repeated sections are all checked, and blocking findings stop the report.
- Every compatibility report is also held to shared limits: unsupported claims of a rare bond, a whole-match grade above the classical band, and a report cut off before its last section are never saved. The other person’s feelings, fears and view of you are written only as chart tendencies to check in real life, and the two of you are never compared with other couples. If a draft fails only on such wording, top-degree words are toned down in place, sentences that state the other person’s inner life as fact are removed (Chinese and English reports), and the report is checked again.
Publisher verification results
A separately written replay takes both charts of 300 seeded synthetic pairs, including leap-month births, 子-hour births under both day-boundary settings, births around the Spring Festival and unknown birth times, and recomputes every pair fact OpenFate derives: the branch relations of the Life and Spouse Palaces, key-palace overlaps under each scenario lens, birth-year Four Transformations landing in the other chart, spouse-palace stars, peach-blossom stars, current-decade sync and six years of timing windows. It also checks all 144 branch pairs of the relation table.

Under OpenFate's declared rules, 300 of 300 pairs match on every compared fact. While it was being built, the replay found 1 engine bug: the work and friendship scenarios never matched the Friends Palace, which the chart library prints as 仆役, so facts on that palace were dropped. It was fixed before this record was published and stays listed in it. The record also shows 6 alternatives other schools use, with how each would change the pairs; those are disclosed, not counted as errors.
The replay takes each chart as input; star placement and the calendar are checked by the single-chart Zi Wei replay. It checks the pair rules, observed on 2026-09-25, not interpretations, compatibility judgements or predictions. OpenFate performed this comparison. The downloadable record is a summary; implementation and full execution fixtures remain private. This is not third-party certification or a public replay kit.

- Both birth records are confirmed on a free preview before anything is charged.
- A complete report uses 65 credits. The credits are reserved when generation starts and returned automatically if the report cannot be completed.
- The saved report keeps the calculated facts it was written from, so later questions in the report chat read the same facts.
Limits
- The facts show symbolic resonance between two charts, not how two real people will behave.
- An uncertain birth time can move palaces; the report cannot correct for an inaccurate time.
