How the monthly reading is made
What the monthly reading needs, what it calculates for the month, which facts it may cite, how the text is written and checked, and what it cannot tell you.
Overview
The monthly reading compares this month with the months before and after it through your Bazi, Zi Wei Dou Shu and Western charts. The chart facts are calculated first without AI; the AI writes only from those facts, and every date comes from the calculation, not from the model.
What it needs
- It uses a birth record already saved to your account, with the birth time known to the minute; without an exact time it is not created.
- The settings saved with that record, including daylight-saving handling, are used as they are; the monthly page does not ask for them again.
- You can ask about the month as a whole, one of four life areas or your own question, and add what is happening and what you are deciding.
- A reading can be created for the current month or the next one, judged in your time zone.
What is calculated before any writing
- The Bazi, Zi Wei and Western engines each calculate the month on their own: Bazi month pillars with their Ten Gods on exact solar terms, the Zi Wei monthly transformations and the palaces they reach, and Western transits with their start and end times.
- A month usually yields more than a dozen dated facts.
- The month runs from 00:00 on its first day to 00:00 on the first day of the next month in your time zone, daylight saving included.
- The previous and the next month are calculated in full as well, so a comparison with them rests on real data.
Which facts it may use and how they are cited
- Every citable fact carries a source code: P for the previous month, M for this month and N for the next.
- Chart facts are selected for the chosen life area and the period being discussed.
- The text cites facts as footnotes and may not write dates itself; the dates of every cited fact are added by the server under the reading.
- The reading cites evidence from all three systems; month comparisons need evidence from both months.
How the text is written and checked
- The text is written by AI.
- Each draft first goes through checks in code, which refuse unknown or missing sources, dates written by the model, uncited chart claims, phases in the wrong order and a missing comparison.
- A separate review then checks grounding, timing, specificity, usefulness, repetition and coverage; the sentence it objects to is looked up by the server, not typed by the model.
- Flagged problems are reviewed and corrected. The reading is delivered only after required checks pass.
Saving and follow-up
- A finished reading is saved with the birth-record version, month and language, and is not rewritten later.
- Changing the birth record creates a new reading instead of editing the old one.
- Feedback you give is saved beside the reading and does not change its text.
- The monthly reading has no follow-up chat.
How you can check it
- Each cited fact comes from the Bazi, Zi Wei or Western engine, and the list under the reading shows its dates, so you can compare it with those charts. The engines have published verification summaries.
- The fact selection, the checks and the review loop are covered by OpenFate's own tests. These are our tests, not an independent certification, and the monthly fact selection has no public replay of its own.
Membership and payment
- Each new monthly reading requires an active membership and 65 points. Failed or cancelled generation refunds the points; reopening a saved report does not charge again.
- Payment covers the written reading, not a more accurate chart: the charts come from the same calculation as the free chart tools.

What it cannot tell you
- It is a symbolic reading to help you think, not a prediction of events, and it does not replace professional advice.
- Agreement between systems is not a vote, and there is no good-or-bad score.
- Bazi changes month on exact solar terms and Zi Wei on the lunar month, so their month boundaries differ by design.
- Western contacts that run past the month are cut at the month's edge and marked.
- It makes no medical diagnosis and no claim of a fixed outcome.
